PERU (LIMA – ICA – CUSCO) MEXICO

DAY 1: ARRIVE LIMA
Assistance on your arrival in Lima and transfer to the
selected hotel. Overnight in Lima

DAY 2: LIMA – VISIT TO THE CHURCHES IN LIMA AND CITY TOUR

In the morning, we will start our Religious tour with a guided sightseeing tour to the Main Square of Lima, we
will start with a guided visit at first to the “Cathedral”, which is the largest church in the capital of Peru and is located in the Plaza de Armas, it was begun in 1535 by order of Francisco Pizarro and was designed by architect Francisco Becerra, we will continue secondly with the visit to “The church of Santo Domingo” where the remains of the most important saints of Lima Santa Rosa and San Martin de Porres are found. We will also visit “Santa Rosa de Lima’s church”, which was Rosa’s monastery and her residence, as well as “San Martin de Porres house”, which is now an asylum. Finally, we will observe “The Nazarene Church”, where the famous “Señor de los Milagros” can be appreciated. In the afternoon, after lunch, we will start the City Tour visiting the most important places of the capital of Peru, such as The Main Square, the Archbishopric, the Palace of Government, the City Hall of Lima, the railway
station and the monumental Convent of San Francisco, the religious complex of San Francisco, is one of the most beautiful and important religious centers of the department of Lima. It has catacombs and underground passageways where you can see the remains of more than 25 thousand people. We will continue the tour with a visit to Lima’s residential areas, arriving then to the district of Miraflores, where we will have a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and its beaches.

DAY 3: ICA – LORD OF LUREN – HUACACHINA LAGOON
08:00 hours, transfer to Ica’s city in private transportation, characterized by extensive desert plains. Melchora Tasayco Saravia was born in Grotius Prado , Chincha ( Ica ) , on January 6 , 1895. As a child , in Grotius Prado, Melchorita began a deep love and devotion to God and a sacrificed Christian life shared with the extreme charity service she practiced with her people. They call her Beatita, even though she has not been blessed by the pope as a saint. She is celebrated every January 6th. It visits the Lagoon of Huacachina, an oasis of abundant vegetation: Dunes, palms, tamarinds and eucalyptuses.
We will visit the Main Square, colonial houses, Lord of Luren Sanctuary, the origin of the devotion for the crucified Christ of Luren (Señor de Luren), patron of the city of Ica (300 km south of Lima), dates back to 1 570, when the image was mysteriously lost in the desert during a trip from Lima to Ica, before reappearing in a desolate outpost called Luren. Later, Nicolás de Ribera the Elder, Lima’s first mayor, had a small church built in this spot as well as a hospital for highland Indians. Then we continue to Paracas.

DAY 4: PARACAS – BALLESTAS ISLAND – PM BACK TO LIMA
07:30 hours we board a boat for a visit to the Ballestas Islands, known also as the little Galápagos, where we will observe a great amount of sea lions, Humboldt penguins, gannets and albatross. In our return trip, we will be able to see the famous “Chandelier”, a giant figure made in the sand by the Nazca people. At the end of the tour Back to the hotel and enjoy in it. PM, return to Lima. Overnight in Lima.

DAY 5: CUSCO- CITY TOUR + CATHEDRAL + SAN BLAS CHURCH + SACSAYHUAMAN
Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Cusco. (Airfare NOT included).
Assistance at your arrival in Cusco and transfer to the selected hotel; at the hotel a hot Coca tea will be waiting for you to help you avoid altitude sickness. PM we will start our Cusco city tour, we will be taken on a guided sightseeing tour visiting at first the “Cathedral”, a monumental architectural jewel of the sixteenth century formed in reality a complex of three juxtaposed churches, continuing secondly we will visit “Company Temple” is a majestic temple of the Jesuit Order, in full parade of the Imperial City, next to the Cathedral. Shows his beautiful collection of paintings, delicate sculptures in wood and maguey and unusual places as responses its underground chapel, sacristy or overwhelming air corridors that reach the central dome. We will visit the San Blas Church is a quaint artisan quarter is situated on the site of the ancient Inca T’oqokachi neighborhood. Its beautiful church keeps inside a rich collection of paintings.We will visit “Koricancha”, a religious place of Killki, which in the Quechua time was dedicated to the worship of the sun and different deities of Tahuantinsuyo.
And finally we drive out the city to visit the Inca sites of Sacsayhuaman. When the tour ends, we will return to the hotel. Overnight in Cusco

DAY 6: CUSCO- ANDAHUAYLILLAS CHURCH
The most important attraction for the visitors is its church: San Pedro de Andahuaylillas considered ad the “Sistine Chapel” of America due to the quality of its art pieces. Built at the beginning of VII century, the interior of the temple is decorated with murals performed by Luis Riaño ( XVII century) representing the path to glory and the path to hell. He was also said to be the author of the low borders of the wall and an important oil painting of the archangel San Miguel. Besides, this church holds a majestic piano, numerous canvases of the Academy of Cusco, silver work and baroque altars.
At the end of the tour transfer to your hotel.

DAY 07: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY TOUR
After breakfast we will have a full day excursion to the “Sacred Valley of the Incas”, where we will visit the traditional Indian market of Pisac. After having lunch in a local countryside restaurant, we will visit the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to this part of the Valley. At the end of the tour, we will be transferred to the train station, to take the train to Aguas Calientes, located in the province of Urubamba, at an altitude of 2,400 masl. At your arrival, the hotel´s staff will accompany to your hotel.

DAY 08: TOUR TO MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO
Early in the morning you will take a 25-minute bus drive of winding road, to “The Lost City of the Incas”, having a guided tour to The Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Clock, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds. After the tour, we will have time to stroll around the Archaeological Site at leisure. After lunch, we will return to Cusco.

DAY 09: CUSCO / LIMA – MEXICO
After breakfast, transfer to Cusco’s airport for our flight back to Lima. Upon arrival to Lima, connect with the International flight to MEXICO.

DAY 10: ARRIVAL IN MEXICO (L, D)
Arrive in Mexico City and greeted at the airport by your guide and tour manager. As our rooms at hotel will be ready at around 3pm we will start visiting some of the religious and cultural highlights of Mexico City including the Zocalo’s main square and the National Palace containing the Diego Rivera famous murals (closed on Mondays) the Cathedral ~ a treasure of beautiful paintings, sculpture and jewelry. Lunch in the historical centre included. Check-in dinner included in the hotel.

DAY 11-:SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE TEOTIHUACAN (B,L, D)-
Breakfast. Around 8am Morning pick up at your hotel.
After breakfast we depart for the Great Basilica and Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. After celebrating Mass at the Shrine MASS RESERVATION HAS TO BE REQUESTED BY PRIEST HIMSELF, PLEASE ASK FOR EARLY HOUR AROUND 10AM. Enjoy a guided tour of the Basilica followed by visit the place where Juan Diego was born and lived. Around 12 am we will continue to Teotihuacan. Lunch included. After lunch we will visit the Pyramids of the Sun & the Moon and have some free time at disposal Around 5pm we will drive back to Mexico City. Dinner in Hotel included & overnight Mexico City

DAY 12: MEXICO CITY – HUEJOTZINGO -ACAPETEC – TONANZINTLA – CHOLULA (B/ L/ D)
Breakfast. Check-out and we will drive to the Monastery of Huejotzingo ~ the Pride of Puebla! Shortly after the Spanish conquest of Mexico, the Franciscans began building a chain of monasteries and mission towns to convert the vast native population. One of the first was at Huejotzingo, at the foot of the volcano Popocatépetl, in the present state of Puebla. Dedicated to the Archangel Michael, the rambling monastery sits atop an ancient mound in the busy town center, secluded from the sounds and bustle of the street within its walled churchyard. The monastery is famous for its many outstanding examples of 16th century art and architecture. The elaborately carved corner chapels of the churchyard, the medieval church doorways spanned by Moorish arches and emblazoned with Franciscan escutcheons, and not least, the extraordinary murals that line the walls of the church and cloister. We will visit the Franciscan Museum.
MASS RESERVATION: PARROQUIA SAN MIGUEL DE HUEJOTZINGO APROX $25
We will stop at the 2 churches of San Francisco Acatepec & Santa Maria Tonanzintla, two magnificent examples of local craftsmanship and the region´s blended Spanish-indigenous influence. We will continue to the Great Pyramid of Cholula located just outside of Puebla. The Great Pyramid of Cholula is the largest pyramid in the world and also features 365 churches, including the famous Church of Our Lady of the Remedies, located at the top (reachable only on foot 25mnts uphill) Although you will not visit the church of Our Lady of the Remedies at the top of the pyramid, you will be able to view the majestic building from the base of the pyramid.
Lunch in Cholula in an historical Fonda (Restaurant) . Arrival in Puebla in the afternoon, dinner and overnight

DAY 13 –PUEBLA (B/ L/ D)- Museums closed on Mondays! Breakfast.

Puebla de los Angeles a World Heritage City, an authentic museum of the very essence of Mexico. It is in this city where women dressed for the first time the “china poblana” costume that in modern time is a national symbol. In this city lived Catalina de San Juan. Here the Mole Poblano, chiles en nogada andcandies were cooked for the first time and they are banner of the Mexican cuisine and it was here where the battle of 5 de mayo was fought in 1862.
With the protection of tree volcanos and between the mythical Tenochtitlan -today Mexico city- and Veracruz, this “novohispana” city flourished for ages. The wealth of the city can be seen in its beautiful facades covered in Talavera, its temples, convents, its history and in its magnificent Palafoxiana library. Today Puebla remains as a cultural reference center in Mexico.
The Zocalo presided by the stunning Cathedral, has always been the heart of this quiet city and the Coffe shops/bars and restaurants under the portals are the main meeting place. From here the visitor walks and discover houses withdolls and alfeñiques, extraordinary Talavera pieces, baroque chapels covered in gold, a bohemian artists´ quarter, a street full of candies and the most traditional Mexican cuisines. Because in Puebla you walk, admire and savor the city. We visit the majestic Church of Santo Domingo, a huge central square cathedral with pink stone and wall tezontle followed by the Chapel of the Rosary, which is considered the eighth wonder of the art world. From the Chapel of the Rosary, you’ll discover the Convent of Santa Monica, which now houses the Museum of Religious Art. Free time for some shopping or to relax in the city centre.

DAY 14- PUEBLA – SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE (ACCORDING TO FLIGHT TIME) –AIRPORT (B)
Breakfast. If our flight time permits we will stop again at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe and say Good
Bye to our Mother.
At convenient hour we would have our transfer to the airport in order to board flight back home
